Assignment Objective: (Project 30pts) to tell a story with 5-10 images, utilize one of the 13 types of photo essays from the slide presentation, of course you can add a twist or your own perspective. The photographic essay should tell the story of a person or people, a place, an object, or collection of things, an event, or an issue and include images that thoroughly explore aspects of the student’s chosen topic. The final images will be chosen where each photograph works independently as well as part of a whole. Your final images will be edited and turned in as well as composed digital, visual presentation method of your choice. Assessment based on the following criteria:

A photo essay, in its simplest form, is a series of pictures that evokes an emotion, presents an idea or helps tell a story. You’ve been exposed to photo essays for your entire life—without even knowing it. “The Great Depression” by Dorothea Lange – Shot and arranged in the 1930s, this famous essay still serves as a stark reminder of The Great Depression and Dust Bowl America. Beautifully photographed, the black and white images offer a bleak insight to one of the country’s most difficult times. A photographic essay is a form of visual storytelling, it delivers a story using a series of photographs and brings the viewer along your narrative journey. A great photo essay is intended to tell a story, can be powerful, able to evoke emotion and create understanding without using words. They allow you to be creative and fully explore an idea.
